DOES AND KIDS AT PSIKEEP

2_doelings

The ravens are setting on their eggs and the goat kids at PsiKeep are getting old enough to sell.

This weekend several buyers are coming to pick up their kids. The does will continue producing milk and the milking season will begin. I will have to decide which goats I will continue to milk and which goats I will dry out.

After several bouts with mastitis, an infection of the udder, that is extremely painful to the doe, I have found that using Dry-Clox (cloxacillin benzathine) was my best solution. It is a long term antibiotic that is purchased through a veterinarian. It is inserted through the opening in the teat and massaged so that it works up into the udder. It prevents infection in the utter while the doe is reabsorbing the milk back into her system.
